DIY Ribbon Pin Board

how to make a ribbon pin board

Hey guys! I’m in the process of redecorating my office space and as many of you know, this can get quite expensive. I was looking to buy a ribbon pin board/bulletin board and was shocked at how pricey they were! So I headed to my local craft store and decided to DIY this. My color scheme is white, black and gold, but you can choose any color to fit your current decor. I got the cork board and ribbon from Michael’s, the fabric is from Joannes, and the tacks from target. You can also buy batting, which is a cotton puffy material that makes the pin board “pop” and gives it a 3D effect. I omitted this step since I’m on a budget and it looks just as nice. Since I’m redoing everything, I had some old chairs that I painted and re-upolstered with this same fabric so I used the leftover fabric for this project!

  • Cork board
  • Fabric
  • Ribbon
  • Thumb tacks
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Batting (the cotton) this step optional.

  1. I cut the fabric and left enough space so I can fold it over.
  2. Cut the edges off to create a cleaner look
  3. like this 🙂
  4. Fold over the fabric and glue it to the cork board
  5. All glued then turn over…
  6. Lay your desired ribbon over the board in a criss-cross pattern.
  7. Place the thumb tacks where the ribbons meet
  8. Glue the ends of the ribbons to the back of the board. Make sure they are not loose so they hold notes etc.

This french bulletin board is very easy to make. I love that I can just stick a note or piece of paper to the ribbon and I don’t have to actually use a pin. It’s also very stylish and brings a little more life to the room. Will be showing more fun office decorating ideas soon! I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial!

The Natural Makeup Look! How To

natural makeup look
A big thanks to my lovely model Julissa for letting me do her makeup for this natural makeup post!

I love makeup, but I hate looking overdone. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun to play with different colors and have a cool look every now and then, but let’s get real, not everyone can walk out the door everyday looking like Lady Gaga. Who has the time?!

The prettiest kind of makeup for me, is the kind that let’s your own beauty shine through. Your everyday makeup routine should be easy to apply, and somewhat goof proof. I believe real confidence lies in the power of wearing your makeup and not letting the makeup wear you!

I have a very simple makeup routine that involves 5 products.

  1. Foundation
  2. Concealer
  3. Blush
  4. Lip tint
  5. Eyebrows

That is all. But first, let me say, you should take care of your skin. Drink plenty of water and exfoliate once a week.

What I used on the Model:

I applied natural liquid foundation with a flat top kabuki brush, and used a little heal and conceal concealer under her eyes. I then applied Ballet slippers mineral blush with a small angled brush, and a little hint of Nude lip butter and gloss on her lips. Her eyebrows were filled in with a brown eyeshadow and angled brush. Instead of mascara, we used an eyelash curler.

FYI: If you’re in a rush, skip the mascara! How many times have we poked ourselves with the mascara wand and ruined our makeup?! Not to mention raccoon eyes at the end of the day!

Tips: Always remember to apply your makeup with clean, hydrated skin. Well groomed eyebrows are a must!

How to make the best green smoothie EVER!

green smoothie recipe

Getting our daily dose of veggies has never been so easy! Fruit smoothies are easy to make and nourish the body with essential nutrients. I have one recipe that I keep coming back to, not only for its benefits, but it’s delicious taste!

I have tried my share of smoothies, and some of them are a little to bland for my taste. I wanted to share with you guys my tricks to the perfect smoothie and also one of my favorite recipes! Check out my video below for a quick how-to using my favorite smoothie recipe.

The rules of the perfect smoothie

Use frozen fruit
Using frozen fruit eliminates ice, therefore making your smoothie richer and tastier!
Don’t add ice
Adding ice will water the smoothie and make it taste bland. The richer the smoothie, the tastier it will be!
Don’t add sugar
The purpose of a smoothie is to nourish your body! It’s supposed to be healthy. Never add sugar, resist the urge!
Don’t add milk
This is not a milkshake, it’s a healthy fruit treat! By adding milk, you are adding calories that are not necessary. For a thicker smoothie, just add bananas.

Add spinach
Spinach is a must in smoothies, it’s loaded with vitamins and you won’t even taste it!

Green smoothie recipe:

1/2 cup of frozen spinach

1 Sliced Frozen Banana

1 Apple

Chopped frozen pineapple

A little bit of water

Mix together in blender and enjoy!

Ultimate Travel checklist!

It’s that time of the year again when we plan our spring vacations, and head out to new and warmer destinations! As some of us are planning our trips to warmer climates, we fail to write the trusty checklist, and more than once forget something as we head out the door. I remember when I went to St. Thomas a couple of years ago, I failed to take my insect repellant, and boy was I sorry!! It’s horrible to realize you forgot your charger, wallet, or even worse…your passport in the house, especially when you’re already halfway to the airport! So here it is…my ultimate travel checklist, so you will never miss the most important travel stuff!

DIY Sharpie manicure ideas

This is one of the coolest ways to give your manicure a little pick-me-up! Who doesn’t love sharpies? I have have them all over my house! We all know sharpies come in handy in the office, but did you know they make for a great manicure as well? They come in black, bright colors, not to mention silver and gold!

How to: The trick is to use the sharpie to make all sorts of fun nail designs. You want to apply a coat of regular nail polish, let it dry, and then start using the markers. So today, why not run over to your local office supply store, and pick up a pack of sharpies and get creative! Below are some inspirations to get you started! Who’s with me?

How to look good in a hurry

I recently got a call from my longtime friend, who I barely see anymore due to scheduling conflicts. She sent me a text out of the blue wanting to meet up, and I had about 15 minutes to get ready. I work from home, so most of the time, I’m in lounge wear! (one of the perks of working from home). I didn’t want to leave the house looking like I just dragged myself out of bed, but how do you make yourself decent in under 15 minutes? I’m not the high maintenance kind of girl, but I like to look presentable. I since came up with my 15 minutes or less, get ready tips!

Tip #1: Buy makeup that does more than one job.
Instead of foundation, use a BB cream or tinted moisturizer, they provide coverage and moisturize and offer sun protection.
Buy a mascara that curls and lengthens, you can then omit the eyelash curler. A cheek and lip stain comes in handy, you don’t need a brush to apply, just dab a little on your cheek and you’re out the door!

Tip #2: Use dry shampoo.
If your hair is not fresh from the shower, use a dry shampoo to avoid the greasy hair look. If hair is out of control that day, use a pretty elastic headband ( This is my go to “bad hair day” accessory).

Tip #3: Put on some lipstick
Go easy on eyeshadow, there’s no time! Leave your eyes neutral and got for a red lip! A bold lip can instantly make you look polished!

Tip #4: Accessorize!
There’s no time to pick the perfect outfit! Choose something classic and accessorize with a nice watch, statement jewelry, and don’t forget your sunglasses!

Tip #5: Have a “get ready quick” emergency kit.
Make your own “in a hurry” makeup bag.

  • Tinted moisturizer / BB cream
  • Mascara that curls and lengthens
  • A bold lipstick
  • Cheek and lip stain
  • Eye drops to brighten eyes
  • Breath mints
  • Nail polish remover and cotton balls (just in case your nails are less than perfect)
  • Elastic headband
get ready quick kit

Keep it on your vanity or makeup drawers, it will come in handy when you need to head out the door in a hurry!

DIY rose facial…don’t throw out your valentine’s day roses just yet!

Don’t throw away those valentine’s day roses! Give yourself an at home facial instead!
Roses are not only soothing, but nourishing for the skin! They can help balance and restore the skin’s Ph and help tighten pores. This makes for a wonderful facial that hydrates the skin, perfect for these winter time months!

Rose facial step by step:

  1. Cleanse skin
  2. Put some rose petals in a bowl and add some almost-boiling water on top.
  3. Lean over the bowl and use a towel to form a tent. Steam your face for around 10 minutes.
  4. Take the water-soaked rose petals and crush them in a bowl.
  5. Add some honey for added benefits to the crushed roses and stir.
  6. Apply to your face in circular motions, like if you were washing your face with this amazing rose water.
  7. Wait 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. You will notice smoother, healthier looking skin!

Tips: When making your rose facial, make sure to wear an old shirt as the facial mask will be runny and could stain.
