How to look good in a hurry

I recently got a call from my longtime friend, who I barely see anymore due to scheduling conflicts. She sent me a text out of the blue wanting to meet up, and I had about 15 minutes to get ready. I work from home, so most of the time, I’m in lounge wear! (one of the perks of working from home). I didn’t want to leave the house looking like I just dragged myself out of bed, but how do you make yourself decent in under 15 minutes? I’m not the high maintenance kind of girl, but I like to look presentable. I since came up with my 15 minutes or less, get ready tips!

Tip #1: Buy makeup that does more than one job.
Instead of foundation, use a BB cream or tinted moisturizer, they provide coverage and moisturize and offer sun protection.
Buy a mascara that curls and lengthens, you can then omit the eyelash curler. A cheek and lip stain comes in handy, you don’t need a brush to apply, just dab a little on your cheek and you’re out the door!

Tip #2: Use dry shampoo.
If your hair is not fresh from the shower, use a dry shampoo to avoid the greasy hair look. If hair is out of control that day, use a pretty elastic headband ( This is my go to “bad hair day” accessory).

Tip #3: Put on some lipstick
Go easy on eyeshadow, there’s no time! Leave your eyes neutral and got for a red lip! A bold lip can instantly make you look polished!

Tip #4: Accessorize!
There’s no time to pick the perfect outfit! Choose something classic and accessorize with a nice watch, statement jewelry, and don’t forget your sunglasses!

Tip #5: Have a “get ready quick” emergency kit.
Make your own “in a hurry” makeup bag.

  • Tinted moisturizer / BB cream
  • Mascara that curls and lengthens
  • A bold lipstick
  • Cheek and lip stain
  • Eye drops to brighten eyes
  • Breath mints
  • Nail polish remover and cotton balls (just in case your nails are less than perfect)
  • Elastic headband

Keep it on your vanity or makeup drawers, it will come in handy when you need to head out the door in a hurry!

DIY rose facial…don’t throw out your valentine’s day roses just yet!

Don’t throw away those valentine’s day roses! Give yourself an at home facial instead!
Roses are not only soothing, but nourishing for the skin! They can help balance and restore the skin’s Ph and help tighten pores. This makes for a wonderful facial that hydrates the skin, perfect for these winter time months!

Rose facial step by step:

  1. Cleanse skin
  2. Put some rose petals in a bowl and add some almost-boiling water on top.
  3. Lean over the bowl and use a towel to form a tent. Steam your face for around 10 minutes.
  4. Take the water-soaked rose petals and crush them in a bowl.
  5. Add some honey for added benefits to the crushed roses and stir.
  6. Apply to your face in circular motions, like if you were washing your face with this amazing rose water.
  7. Wait 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. You will notice smoother, healthier looking skin!

Tips: When making your rose facial, make sure to wear an old shirt as the facial mask will be runny and could stain.

At Home Facial: Step By Step!

Facials are an important part of our skincare regimen, but going to the spa every month can get a little pricey! We shouldn’t neglect our skin just because we can’t make those trips to the spa. Here is a step by step way to do an at-home facial, in between spa treatments!

  • Cleanse: You want to begin your at home facial by cleansing your skin with a gentle cleanser. This can be a  Milk facial cleanser, which won’t strip your skin of it’s natural oils but will remove makeup. You want to make sure you work the cleanser on your skin in circular motions for about a minute.

  • Steam: Take a bowl of water and microwave until you see the water is warm enough to let off steam. Put a towel over your head and your face a comfortable distance from the bowl. This will open pores.

  • Facial Mask: Follow with a face mask. This can vary depending on your skin type. If you have acne prone skin, you can benefit from a raw honey mask. See our  Honey Mask post for more info. You can also use an avocado mask, Here are more masks to try! If you want to get fancy, we recommend french rose clay. Leave your mask on for about 10min, and rinse with warm water. Masks are used to moisturize, detoxify, increase circulation and replenish nutrients.

  • Serum: Finally apply a serum on your kin. Serums come in oil or gel form, they will penetrate the skin more than a moisturizer, and provide skin with powerful antioxidants and nourishing vitamins. Some examples are Argan Oil. Find a face oil that’s a good match for your skin and you will see instant results!

  • Moisturizer: If your skin is dry you will need to apply a moisturizer after the serum. The vitamins in Goat milk facial moisturizer regenerates, softens, and soothes your skin’s surface, acts as an anti-inflammatory that sustains healthy skin tissue, and contains nutrients essential for healthy skin cell development and maintenance.

Hope you try!

Healthy, Clear Skin Naturally!

If you want to achieve healthy, clear, smooth and youthful looking skin then you have to try french rose clay mask!

I love this so much for many different reasons. First off, it’s all natural, from the earth and It is considered to be the mildest of all the clays and works well for normal, sensitive, oily and mature skin types. The best part…you will see results instantly! It’s as if you just stepped out of a spa, with glowing skin!

What are the benefits of French Rose Clay?

  • It absorbs dirt and oils, and all the harmful toxins from the skin.
  • As it dries, your skin will absorb the minerals from the clay, rejuvenating the skin.
  • Cleanses the skin and creates smaller pores
  • moisturizes the skin
  • Clears acne, as it cleans out the dirt and oil without stripping your skin
  • Stimulates blood circulation
  • Removes dead skin cells
  • Firms the skin
  • Tones and hydrates
  • Polishes the skin

One of the immediate effects of a clay mask is that it stimulates blood circulation on the skin. My skin glows and is pink and dewy after a clay mask. This wonderful clay is a fantastic cocktail of essential minerals, it will leave your skin feeling soft and nourished. I live in the city so it’s a great way to get city smog off my skin.

It’s also super easy to use!

Combine 1tsp of clay with a bit of water to form a thick paste. Apply to the face and leave for 15 min or until the clay has dried on your skin (your skin will feel tight). Afterward just wash off with warm water.

(Note: clays stain, so you may want to use an old facecloth)

I must say this is pretty amazing! You can even use it as a spot treatment for acne! Use this up to 3 times a week for healthy, glowing skin!

Heal Acne Scars Naturally!

By far this is one of those home remedies that actually work! I personally tried this myself as well as my husband and we swear by it! If you happen to have any type of scars on your face from acne or any other type of injury then please keep reading…

Let me begin by telling my story. I have no real deep seated scars, just acne and acne scars that have been healed through this homemade miracle! My husband on the other hand had a huge deep scar on his face as a result of an ingrown hair that he tried to pick which ended up looking like a crater after a couple of months. Needless to say he was frustrated, desperate to find a solution I did some research and tried various mask and ointments that promise to heal scars but after months we saw no improvement, that is until we tried honey! Yes HONEY! But not just any store brought honey… RAW honey. You can get local raw honey at whole foods, it’s not cheap but worth every penny. Let me tell you why raw honey and not regular supermarket honey.

Most of the honey found in grocery stores has been processed with heat, which kills off healing enzymes and destroys a lot of the nutrient-rich content. Raw honey hasn’t been processed and will give your skin the healing benefits that it needs. *If you have allergies, try a patch test first or ask your physician if raw honey is right for you.

This is by far the best natural way to treat your acne, It has the property of removing skin impurities by unclogging pores and preventing breakouts. It penetrates deep into the skin and promotes acne healing by killing the harmful bacteria and reduces scar formation. Regular application of raw honey on the affected area reduces acne scars and blemishes, and is considered to be the safest and most natural acne cure.

Here is my recipe:

One tablespoon of raw local honey and 3 drops of carrot seed oil (another of of my favorite oils to use). If you don’t have carrot seed oil (it’s hard to find) substitute for tea tree essential oil. Make sure you cleanse your face with a gentle facial cleanser, with no sulfates, or any other harsh ingredients, before applying the raw honey to your face.

Apply this to problem areas, and leave  over night and wash in the morning. You can also use as an all over face mask and leave on 30 min. then wash with warm water. Do this every night for 2 weeks and see how your skin improves. If your skin tolerates the raw honey well, keep using it until your skin improves and you no longer see acne and scars start to diminish.

Please try raw honey, it’s truly amazing and you see results within a couple of days!
